woodworking factory
Old factories have a distinctive appeal on me since when I was young. I don’t know exactly if this is more because of the stories related to the people that worked in these places or because of my personal interest in mechanics and old technologies. Probably it’s simply a mixture of these reasons. Technically this interest is called industrial archaeology that consists is the study of material culture from the past with a focus on industry. For sure I can’t say to be an industrial archeologist but I can assume to be a passionist of this branch.
During a boring Sunday some years ago I spent some times in the dismissed woodworking factory owned first by my family. Danger signs, saws, working instruments and a lot of dust… Everything left at their own place since the last working days. Everything ready to be used and handled but still waiting since long time and probably forever. This is the time passing and the plastic immobility of the past.

The sacredness of the place was able to overcome internal wars, invasions Saracen, earthquakes and bombardaments. The actual shape is a faithful copy the previous one. The postwar reconstruction has preserved the original solemnity as to try to forget the ally bombing of the February 1944. |
